Unnatural thing

Playing poker well is an unnatural thing, really. You have to not want to play very much, first of all. Throw away marginal hands with a zen-like demeanor. But when you get a premium hand, you have to turn up the aggression so that you’re the wrecking ball no one wants to confront. And then regardless of the result (even if your aces got cracked), slip back into your previous meditative state and wait for the next hand. The most difficult aspect of the game is not odds or strategy but emotion.

I would ask my poker-playing friend John his thoughts about this, but most of the time he’s screaming “I’m gonna pop that beeatch!!!”
