A typical day

Awakened by construction between 6:30 and 7 am. Attempt to keep sleeping until at least eight or later. Check the surf report online before going to lecture. Attend seminar from nine until noon. Sometimes I hitch a ride with my brother to lunch but most days I wing it since I have afternoon lecture. On the days I’m off, I try to explore some part of the island (see previous entries). Then end up at brother’s apartment around five and carry the longboard to the beach. Surf until sunset. Haul board back to apartment, hose it down, and take a shower. Coordinate various parties for dinner. Go back to residence hall and attempt to finish reading for the next day of class. Fall asleep quickly.
