I noticed that this page has been getting a lot of visits as the result of people searching for “ishiguro family supper explain” or something like that. Unfortunately, all I have are unhelpful links to a basic reading quiz and the story itself.
The best thing to do is go read the story again and really pay attention to the details. But just so you don’t go away emptyhanded, here is a question to keep in mind while rereading: in what ways do all the mentions of suicide and death contribute to the tension of what’s being served for supper?
